Scott Chudnoff, MD, MSc, chair of the obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) service at Maimonides Medical Center, has been named a 2024 Castle Connolly Top Doctor — the second year in a row he has received this prestigious recognition.
Dr. Chudnoff specializes in minimally invasive surgery and treating gynecologic issues like fibroids, abnormal bleeding, endometriosis, and pelvic pain. ‘As a surgeon, I made a big part of my career creating and offering the least invasive approach possible — and when possible, avoiding surgery,’ he says. ‘I treat patients as patients, not as conditions. I take a holistic approach, treating the whole person.’
Board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Chudnoff is a professor at SUNY Downstate and has served as a principal investigator on clinical trials exploring new fibroid treatments. His research has been published extensively, and he has presented globally.
After earning his MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Dr. Chudnoff completed an OB/GYN residency and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery fellowship at Montefiore Einstein. He also holds a master’s in clinical research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Only around 7% of U.S. physicians are selected annually as Castle Connolly Top Doctors through a peer-nomination and research process. ‘Being recognized by your peers is a special kind of honor,’ notes Dr. Chudnoff.
