Wytec International Launches AI Gunshot Detection Pilot in Texas School Districts

Wytec International is poised to launch its first pilot program for an integrated AI gunshot detection solution across Texas school districts. The comprehensive initiative will utilize the Federal Communications Commission’s Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) to create secure, private wireless networks designed to detect multiple types of gunshot threats.

The pilot program emerges from a multi-state government award through the TXShare Cooperative Purchasing Program, which will enable Wytec to implement its advanced solutions in over 170 U.S. cities, 50 counties, and numerous special districts including schools, hospitals, and public safety organizations.

Leveraging strategic partnerships with Nextivity Inc. and Lemko Corporation, Wytec has developed an embedded AI and machine learning software solution for threat detection. The company’s technological approach integrates smart sensors with sophisticated wireless connectivity, supported by more than 75 global patents and patent-pending technologies.

Nextivity contributes critical in-building cellular solutions, including over 25 patents related to wireless technologies. The partnership, which began in 2019 with the Laredo Independent School District, has expanded to include significant projects like implementations at the Johnson Space Center and a 62-story Dallas building.

Lemko Corporation provides the secure wireless backbone through its private LTE network capabilities, bringing expertise in mobile edge computing and wireless technologies. The company has launched multiple Private LTE systems using CBRS spectrum and possesses more than 50 U.S. and international patents.

Wytec plans to select one or more of the 1,203 Texas Independent School Districts within the TXShare members for its initial pilot project. This approach represents a phased strategy aimed at demonstrating the potential of advanced public safety and educational technologies.

The comprehensive solution addresses growing concerns about safety in educational and public spaces, offering a technological approach to threat detection that could potentially mitigate risks associated with gunshot incidents.
