Utah’s Life Sciences Industry to Showcase Innovation at State Capitol Event

Utah’s life sciences industry will take center stage at the State Capitol on January 30, as BioUtah hosts its annual Life Sciences Day on the Hill. The event, scheduled from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, will feature exhibits from more than 25 local companies representing diverse sectors of biomedical innovation.

The gathering aims to educate state legislators about Utah’s burgeoning life sciences ecosystem, which has become a significant economic driver. With an impressive $22 billion contribution to the state’s GDP and employing 180,000 Utahns across 1,600 companies, the industry represents a critical component of the state’s economic landscape.

Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah, emphasized the event’s importance, noting that it provides an opportunity to showcase new technologies transforming patient care. The exhibition in the capitol rotunda will highlight companies spanning medical devices, diagnostics, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.

Participating organizations include prominent entities such as ARUP Laboratories, Intermountain Health, University of Utah, Edwards Lifesciences, and Stryker, representing the breadth and depth of Utah’s life sciences capabilities.

By facilitating direct interaction between industry innovators and policymakers, the Life Sciences Day on the Hill serves as a critical platform for fostering understanding and potentially influencing future healthcare and technology policies in the state.
